Cell Phone Guidelines
After careful consideration and consultation with our staff, administration, and parent representatives, we have decided to implement a new policy regarding the use of cell phones during the school day. Beginning August 14, 2024, students will no longer be permitted to use their cell phones, earbuds/headphones, including watches etc. during school hours, including breaks, passing periods, and lunch periods.
This decision was made with the primary goal of creating a more focused and productive learning environment for all students. Research and our own observations have shown that unrestricted cell phone use can be a significant distraction, impacting both academic performance and social interactions among students.
Students may keep their cell phone in their possession, but they must be put away in their backpacks (not pockets) so that they are not visible. Students who are observed using their phone, earbuds/headphones, etc. during the school day, will be subject to having their cell phones and/or earbuds/headphones collected by the adult observing the infraction.
Devices collected by adults will be locked-up safely and in most cases, returned to students at the end of the day. For repeated offenses, students will be required to have a parent/guardian come to the campus to retrieve the device(s). Persistent infractions will be addressed as a non-compliant office referral.
Please rest assured that our teachers and staff are committed to supporting this transition and will work with students to ensure they understand the new guidelines. We encourage parents to discuss this policy with their children and to reinforce the importance of adhering to school rules. Additional information surrounding Electronic Devices may be reviewed on page 8 of the Klein ISD Student Code of Conduct
Should you need to reach your child during the school day, the Krimmel Front Office staff will be available to deliver critical messages to students, as needed.
We believe that this adjustment will contribute positively to our school’s educational environment, promoting academic focus, social interaction, and overall student well-being. Your cooperation and support are crucial as we implement this new policy for the benefit of all students.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s grade level administrator. We value your feedback and are committed to working together to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
